Nielsen Business Media

As President of Nielsen Business Media, Greg Farrar is responsible for the direction, operations and growth of Nielsen Business Media and oversight of its management team. A 20-year veteran of The Nielsen Company (formerly VNU), Farrar is focused on the continued expansion of Nielsen Business Media's products and services and increasing the reach of the company's brands, especially into the digital arena.

Farrar was appointed President of Nielsen Business Media in November 2007. Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer for the division, where he oversaw the daily management of the business unit. Over the last 20 years, Farrar has held a number of roles with Nielsen/VNU including President of the VNU Expositions group and Senior Vice President of Business Development for VNU Business Media.  He has played an integral role in the company’s media and trade show acquisitions, successfully building VNU’s exhibition business to be the market leader in the U.S.

After serving as an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps, Farrar began his business media career in 1986 with the Capitol Convention and Exhibit Company. In 1992, with the sale of the business to Bill Communications, he was appointed Vice President of the BillCom Exposition and Conference Group. There he led the effort to re-engineer the Group's exhibit sales and attendee marketing capabilities. In October 1997, Farrar was promoted to Vice President of Corporate Services of Bill Communications where over the next two years he was centrally involved in the acquisition of over 45 print and face-to-face media properties. In January 2000, Farrar was appointed Senior Vice President of Business Development of VNU Business Media. There he played a leading role in the acquisition of Miller Freeman USA, a $200 million business media company made up of 29 trade magazines and 56 trade shows and conferences.
