Robert (Bob) Luff is Chief Engineering Officer of Consumer/Media Measurement for The Nielsen Company. He reports to Susan Whiting and is based in New York.
In this capacity, Bob leads Nielsen’s global engineering activities worldwide. He also oversees the development of new and innovative technologies to help measure the complete consumer experience. Prior to this role, Bob served as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Nielsen Media Research.
Before Nielsen, he served as Vice President and CTO for NBC’s Broadcast and Network Operations group. At NBC, Bob focused on ways in which networks must change their internal and external infrastructures to optimize traditional content and create new programming and delivery options in an environment of digital television, internet, and wireless developments.
Before that, Bob served in a variety of other high-level technology and strategy positions at various communications and cable companies, including TV.com, Scientific-Atlanta, Bell Atlantic, Jones Intercable, United Artists Cable and the National Cable Television Association. He began his telecommunications career at the Federal Communications Commission as Chief Technical Advisor to the Chairman.
Bob has received numerous awards and distinctions for his leadership and innovation. He is an acclaimed engineering leader with over 30 years of experience across the broadcasting, cable, satellite, regulatory, telephony, trade association and manufacturing segments of the industry.
Bob holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware.
