Workplace Diversity

At Nielsen, diversity is not just a goal, it is a business imperative. Our effectiveness at embracing the talents of people of different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives is key to our continued success in providing clients with information they need to succeed.

Equal Employment Opportunities

We offer equal employment opportunity to qualified individuals without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or other factors not related to job performance. We strongly believe that cultivating a diverse workplace gives a company strength. The combination of unique skills, abilities, experiences and backgrounds creates an environment that produces extraordinary results.

Employee Resource Groups

Employee Resource Groups help Nielsen achieve business results by fostering communication among a diverse employee population and senior-level management. These groups exist to help employees maximize opportunities to network and develop their careers. Employee Resource Groups are proven to be a critical part of business strategy. Not only do these groups facilitate and improve employee engagement, but they also help company recruitment, retention, leadership development, and outreach to diverse markets.

Our current Employee Resource Groups include:

  • SABLE (Sustaining Active Black Leadership and Empowerment)
  • HOLA (Hispanic Organization of Leaders in Action)
  • Asian Fusion (Asian and Asian Americans)
  • PRIDE (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender)
  • ADEPT (Individuals who deal with disability)

The Diversity Council

Nielsen's Diversity Council began in 2006 with Nielsen Media Research, the television ratings service, and is now expanding to include all aspects of The Nielsen Company. The Council is dedicated to an inclusive and diverse work environment where individuals' differences are understood, respected and valued. This commitment enables us to successfully promote and encourage a work environment where diversity is embraced, people treat each other with respect and dignity, people are promoted on their merits, and diversity becomes a vital part of the fabric our corporate culture.

The Nielsen Diversity Council is responsible for:

  • Defining diversity issues that are relevant to our company.
  • Creating an integrated company-wide diversity program that aligns with business objectives, educational development, EEO compliance, workplace inclusion and supplier diversity.
  • Monitoring company wide metrics to assure organizational objectives are met.
  • Providing oversight and guidance to our diversity program.
  • Communicating diversity achievements company-wide.
