Nielsen Television Research Program

Designed to prepare students for careers in television research, this intensive program combines a six-week course with a 100-hour internship opportunity at networks or stations, in advertising, or at The Nielsen Company. In addition to class work and guest lectures, the program gives students hands-on work experience in a real world, professional research department.

Students study the basic structure and processes of the television and advertising industries, fundamental principles of effective social survey research, and methodologies used to gather and report the Nielsen ratings. Upon successful completion of the course students earn a Television Audience Research Certificate in television audience measurement from New York University. The program is open to both undergraduate and continuing education students at all career levels.
