A Note From The CEO

For nearly 40 years, Nielsen has been a proud partner in the Tampa Bay community – creating jobs, supporting a range of worthy causes, contributing significantly to the local tax base and driving economic investment in the region. For Nielsen, the work done at our Global Technology and Information Center – located in the City of Oldsmar – is an essential part of our worldwide success.  We are enormously proud of this state-of-the-art facility – Nielsen’s largest in the world – and of the more than 1,500 talented people who work there each day.

Nielsen’s presence has helped jumpstart Oldsmar’s tremendous economic expansion in recent years, bringing with it new business headquarters as well as new restaurants, hotels and shops.  And our company’s direct investments in property, people and wages have created significant economic impacts and additional jobs throughout the region. 

As with every successful company – particularly those who work with complex information and data acquisition technology – Nielsen is constantly looking for ways to do its work more effectively.  To continue meeting the needs of our clients worldwide, it became clear that we needed to engage outside partners who could bring additional, very specific technical expertise to our operations in Oldsmar and around the world – expertise that we simply couldn’t bring on our own.  Following a rigorous competition among the top global firms in the field, we chose to partner with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a worldwide leader in complex information technology assignments.

Beyond the introduction of TCS and other partners, Nielsen remains committed to being among the most efficient companies in the world.  As part of this commitment, we identified positions throughout the company that, unfortunately, were no longer needed.

We appreciate that for any associate of Nielsen whose job is eliminated, this has a very serious impact.  These are decisions that we do not take lightly, and we are committed to ensuring that any person affected is treated fairly and with the greatest respect.  We are also focused on improving our practices wherever necessary.

Moreover, we are pleased to report that 50 former Nielsen employees were offered new jobs with TCS in the local area.

Once again, let me reiterate how important this community is to Nielsen.  We are proud of our long-standing relationship with the citizens of Greater Tampa Bay, our world-class facility in Oldsmar and our talented people who work in the area.  We look forward to many more years as an anchor for local business development and as a trusted and valued community partner.
