Nielsen RingScan

 

Overview

Nielsen RingScan is a weekly point-of-sale tracking service of ringtones offered by Nielsen Entertainment. RingScan currently reports on ringers (polys, masters and voice) and will expand to include ringbacks and other types of ringtones. The service is designed to provide weekly sales information on a title-by-title basis with the highest possible degree of accuracy and integrity for the mobile entertainment industry.

RingScan enables its subscribers to access comprehensive market reports with a wide variety of information. Data can be compiled to reflect sales for the entire country by region, or by an individual market called a DMA (Designated Market Area). For example, you can view how a particular title sold in New York or in any of the other 98 available markets in any given week. You may also see its year-to-date or release-to-date figures (please note: YTD or RTD sales may represent partial sales for a title with the inception of RingScan tracking, beginning with week ending 09/03/2006).
