Supermarket Market Share and ACV Report

When it comes to marketing, sales and business growth, an understanding of key retail players in any given market is essential. The Nielsen Company is the premier provider of up-to-date retail location information management (LIM). Only Nielsen has universal coverage of every store in our syndicated retail trade channels (grocery, mass merchandisers, drug, club, convenience, liquor stores, cigarette outlets), and full coverage of large chains with dominance in a single category (e.g., home improvement, toy, pet, electronic, apparel stores, etc.). We also cover Food Service channels where alcohol is served, including dining, bar/nightclub, lodging, recreation, transportation, caterer and military outlets.

Nielsen TDLinx codes track the ownership hierarchies — from division to ultimate parent. For retail, that includes every buying office, distribution center, corporate parent and holding company. We track corporate as well as franchise owners. A separate chain field or marketing group allows you to aggregate retail stores by banner name, regardless of owner.

These Nielsen reports also include estimated annual total store sales volume (also known as ACV – All Commodity Volume) and square footage on all of our retail store records to help marketers size the market and measure share / penetration.

An example of a standard market share report is attached which shows the owner view for the Houston DMA and reflects ALL the supermarket owners in the market (not just the top 10 chains). We also have the supplier view which displays the chains pulling from the wholesalers and selfsupplied warehouses in the market.

Standard Market Share and ACV reports are available in three versions.

1) Market Share:

The owner view and the supplier view (wholesalers and selfsupplied warehouses) reflect ALL the supermarket retailers in the market (not just the top 10).

· $2,500 for both views – December 2010 data onetime delivery for ALL markets in one of the following syndicated market definition: Nielsen ScanTrack, IRI Infoscan, or MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area).

· $3,500 for both views – December 2010 data onetime delivery for ALL DMAs (Designated Marketing Area) or ALL states since those market views cover 100% of the USA.

2) Market Share Reports with ACV and Change vs Year Ago:

· $5,500 for Market Share Change – December 2010 data – 10 Grocery Retailers in a Market for Nielsen ScanTrack, IRI Infoscan or MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area).

· $7,500 for Market Share Change – December 2010 data – 10 Grocery Retailers in a Market for ALL DMAs (Designated Marketing Area) or ALL states since those market views cover 100% of the USA.

3) Total USA Supermarket Parent Rank:

· $2,500 for National Supermarket Share – December 2010 data one time delivery for All supermarkets.

· $2,000 if you license any of the Nielsen ScanTrack, IRI Infoscan or MSA reports above.
