While optimism rises globally, Canadian consumer confidence stays flat
In sharp contrast to a record-setting surge of consumer confidence in the U.S., and good news globally, the Canadian outlook was status quo in the third quarter of 2015.
In Canada, consumer confidence fell one index point to 97. That meant Canada fell behind the global index, which rose three points to 99 (the highest level since 2006). This continues a sluggish trend – the third consecutive quarter that the Canadian confidence index was below the 100 baseline, after exceeding 100 for each of the last three quarters of 2014.
