Canada Music Mid-Year Report 2017

It’s a milestone year for Canada as the nation marked its 150 Anniversary on July 1st. To pay tribute, Nielsen released the Top Canadian Artists, Albums and Songs from the Nielsen Music Canada Era, with Celine Dion being celebrated as the biggest selling artist.

When it comes to the current charts, it’s been an action-packed first half of the year, with several records broken. Significantly, a streaming milestone was reached in April, when weekly on-demand audio streaming surpassed 700 million. And Canadian artists have played a key role: Drake’s More Life set a record for audio on-demand streams in one week, with 42.8 million, surpassing the record previously held by fellow Canadian The Weeknd.

Welcome to the Nielsen Music Mid-Year Report, which provides the definitive figures and charts for the Canadian music industry from the first six months of the year.
