Nielsen Canada’s Ning Kost Named Toronto’s ‘Best Tech Manager’ and Advances to National Judging in 2020 Timmy Awards

Markham, ON – Oct. 8, 2020 – Tech in Motion announced Nielsen Canada’s Ning Kost, SVP Technology as the Best Tech Manager in Toronto, chosen by their peers and local tech community as a Regional Winner to advance to the National Judging round. After coming out on top of a collective outpour of thousands of votes in Timmys voting, Ning will have the opportunity to receive even more recognition by competing to take home the National Award, chosen by an expert panel of judges: Ian Suttle, Engineering Director at Google, Vijay Mohan, Senior Director at Fitch Solutions, and Anita Jindal, Senior Director at VMware.

“We are thrilled to recognize local tech leaders who are successfully paving the way for their teams during such challenging times,” says Mandy Walker, Director of Marketing at Motion Recruitment, creator of Tech in Motion. “From promoting career growth to inspiring innovation, these managers go above and beyond to create a great team culture and provide the vision for a great product or service.”

As a leader at Nielsen and in the technology community, Ning leads by example and recognizes that employees stay and thrive when their managers help them succeed. Ning understands that careers are not static and helps her team seek opportunities and advocates for them to learn, develop and grow their skills. In addition to technical skills, Ning helps her team develop soft skills including empathy, communication, collaboration, creativity, intellectual curiosity and adaptability that are transferable across roles and increasingly in demand.

“Ning is a remarkable leader, demonstrating accountability in everything she takes on,” says Arun Ramaswamy, Chief Technology Officer, Nielsen. “Ning’s sound technical judgment, clear communication skills and a tremendous delivery record make her uniquely qualified to win this incredible honour. Most importantly, she drives engagement in her team with care and empathy.”
