Shanghai, CHINA – July 30, 2014 – Nielsen, a leading global provider of information and insights into what consumers watch and buy, has been named the best employer in China in the information/consulting services industry, according to a survey of 50,000 students by ChinaHR.com, a leading recruitment portal. The top five companies were:
“To receive ChinaHR’s award is a public recognition of our continued efforts around campus recruiting, employer branding and making Nielsen a great place to work and build a career,” said Bob Zhu, Chief HR Officer, Nielsen Greater China. “It is one more step on our journey to be the most admired company in China.”
Initiated by ChinaHR.com, one of the leading recruiting companies on Chinese campuses, the awards have become the largest and most influential in terms of Chinese graduates’ career path choices. This year marks the 12th consecutive survey of its kind, making it a key benchmark for measuring different brands’ attraction and appeal as employers in Chinese market.
According to the organizer, the survey is conducted among a total of 50,000 university students from 140 universities throughout China. The results include ranking lists for 16 industries, including the consulting services industry in which Nielsen was named Best Employer.
An April 2014 report in the Wall Street Journal describing the declining relative attractiveness to Chinese students of foreign companies amid the rise of many local high-tech companies singled out Nielsen as one of the few MNC employers in China that had bucked the trend. Nielsen received more than 10,000 applications from Chinese students at universities in China and around the world competing for only 100 spots in the company’s Graduate Induction Program (GIP) in 2014.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone in Nielsen China for their demonstration of Nielsen’s values. It is the effort of each and every Nielsen associate that makes our company a wonderful, admired place to work and grow,” said Patrick Dodd, Managing Director, Nielsen China.
