Junior Data Scientist – Temporary Role – 106325

Nielsen’s solution delivers a comprehensive understanding of the audience to the media market.

This Junior Data Scientist role is responsible for providing statistical support for Television Audience Measurement  including traditional TV and online streaming platforms. 

The Junior Data Scientist cooperates at data validation and quality control to ensure data quality standards are achieved as well as for maintaining viewing data integrity; identification and resolution of issues that may arise and specifying necessary corrective measures. 

The Junior Data Scientist analyses datasets, creates statistical models and creates reports and supports the data communication with creative data visualization techniques. The Junior Data Scientist also applies their experience to contribute insights for methodology and product enhancement of Nielsen linear and nonlinear TV measurement solutions.

The Junior Data Scientist is open to learn and adopt new software and tools to improve and automatize the procedures.


What will I do?
Survey design, universe estimation

  • Creates, runs, improves and automatizes scripts or produce standard, repeatable and scalable tools to
    • implement multi-variable statistical models for deeper understanding of the data;
      • producing complex trend analyses of TV viewing and online streaming;
      • performing viewing behavior analysis to detect any abnormality on the trends
      • identifying relationship amongst variables
    • explore potential data discrepancy; identify any distortion on the data or low quality issue that might require further investigation and/or data reprocessing
    • weight survey dataset and perform population estimation from survey
    • manipulate complex datasets
    • handle big data
  • Recommends quality control and data validation improvement of TV viewing and online streaming data
  • Contributes to the preparation of client-facing materials 
  • Creates regular and ad hoc reports and evolves them in line with Client requirements

Is this for me?

  • Level of studies: University Degree or Diploma
  • Type of studies: statistics or sciences (mathematics) or sociology or economy
  • Understanding of statistical concepts and techniques used in a market research environment
  • Ability to manipulate data, gain insights from datasets
  • Experience at data visualization
  • Computer literate using R and Python, proficient at one of them.
  • Experience with Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence is an advantage.
  • Proficient in English
