Statistics Software Engineer
About the job
Our software development team has an open culture. We prefer to work agile (scrum) and in close cooperation with our colleagues from other disciplines such as our front end development, data science and client facing teams.
You will join our team to play a role in the development of the business logic of our applications, as well as in developing and maintaining the cloud architecture of our applications.
You understand complex software requirements and you are able to design an appropriate architecture and services. You apply a high standard to your code and its maintainability, are used to writing unit tests and are comfortable with a culture of peer reviewing. Apart from that, you have strong analytical insights and an affinity for implementing mathematical methods.
You are experienced in ASP.Net Core and have an in-depth working knowledge of software patterns.
You are a self-motivated, creative thinker but also flexible and easy to work with. You like to work in a team and are interested in investigating and learning new techniques.
The development team is part of Nielsens planning organization that consists of product specialists, data scientists and data engineers. This core technology group consists of about 100 people from over 20 nationalities, most of us located in Rotterdam. Together, we will be working closely on a number of challenging projects, all contributing to the development of our product across the globe.
Our team is responsible for developing Commspoint; an online application for strategic media planning. Commspoint enables the user to plan multi-media campaigns (such as TV, online (video), radio, print, outdoor media, etc.). Commspoint is used by many advertisers and media agencies all over the world.
In the future, our responsibilities may extend toward other media planning solutions, such as allocation of advertising budgets across brands and markets.
In our applications we combine extensive data sets with mathematical modelling and smart methods to ensure the quality of our solutions.
Master degree in computer science, software engineering, applied mathematics or similar;
2+ years of experience in building statistical / calculation oriented software
2+ years of experience with ASP.Net core / .Net Core framework
In-depth working knowledge of software patterns
Strong analytical skills
Structural, methodical, attention to detail
An affinity with mathematical modelling and statistics
A team mentality and not afraid to speak up;
Good communicative skills;
Fluent in English (speaking and writing);
Preferably residing in the Netherlands.
Nice to have skills and experiences:
Knowledge/experience with AWS
Knowledge/experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and GitOps
Experience in developing RESTful APIs
Experience with PostgresSQL
Experience with CI/CD, Unit, Integration and API testing patterns
Experience with SOA / micro services
