Test & Automation Engineer

Nielsen is seeking an organized, detail oriented, team player, to join the ITAM Back Office Engineering team in the role of Test & Automation Engineer. Nielsen’s Audience Measurement Engineering platforms support the measurement of television viewing in more than 30 countries around the world. Ideal candidates will have exceptional skills in programming, testing, debugging and problem solving as well as effective communication and writing skills.

 

The ideal candidate is a graduate in Computer Engineering or Computer Science (or similar technical degree), with excellent communication skills and is autonomous and responsible in her/his work. The position includes troubleshooting data-production systems and application problems, investigating issues and root cause analysis, resolution of issues as well as periodic application administration tasks. The position also includes documenting system functionality, configuration and maintenance tasks, software application deployment and training of technical operators and users.

 

To be successful in the role, you will need to have the following attributes:

 

  • Graduate in Computer Engineering or Computer Science (or similar degrees)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, able to work in team, proactive in troubleshooting, ability to think out of the box, work across boundaries, open to multicultural working environment
  • Ability to communicate in English (conduct written and spoken daily conversations with English speakers from 30+ countries around the world)
  • Networking / IT skills. Ability to troubleshoot connection issues, understanding how to work remotely on distant environments
  • Basic knowledge of database management, SQL, Microsoft SQL Server and administration tasks

  • CICD: Jenkins, VSTS (Visual Studio Team Service), TFS (Team Foundation Service)
  • Test automation (GUI , web and windows app)
  • Unit test (Java, JavaScript, C#, C++)
  • Strong testing and debugging abilities, functional, analytical and technical abilities, ability to find bugs, attention to detail, troubleshooting
  • Desire to be deeply involved in product supplementation and automation
  • Strong analytical skills and sense of technical reativity
  • Excellent debugging and problem solving skills
  • Experience in writing unit/integration tests including test automation.
  • Resourceful, self-starter, and a team-player
  • Solid understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment environments
  • Detail oriented with a commitment to innovation
  • Effective communication and writing skills are a must

 

Having these will make you stand out from the crowd

 

  • Experience with highly critical production environments. Understanding the importance of production environments (test, deploy, smoke/confidence test)
  • Java experience on Linux platform
  • Development experience with Microsoft Visual C++ and .NET/C#
  • C++ experience on Windows platform
  • Work with web technology including Java, JavaScript
  • Strong testing and debugging abilities, functional, analytical and technical abilities, ability to find bugs, attention to detail, troubleshooting
  • Experience working in an Agile environment (scrum, kanban)
