Gracenote’s Music Editorial team is made up of music experts with a deep knowledge of regional music trends and genres. We are looking for a detail-oriented music enthusiast to join our team.
In this position, you will combine your music knowledge with a sharp eye for detail in order to support a database of artists and albums. Successful candidates will have a strong breadth and depth of knowledge about different genres of popular music and charting content found on the radio, on social media, and in movies and TV programs. You must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable with technology, with the ability to maintain focus on tasks and deliverables under tight deadlines.
Comprehensive and well-rounded knowledge of a wide array of popular music
Excellent spelling and proofreading skills
Basic understanding of the current state of the music industry
Ability to review, navigate, and compare vast amounts of information from multiple information sources in a rapid manner
Critical thinker with good judgment and a strong capacity for spotting trends and/or anomalies
Familiarity with data-standardization policies and techniques, style guides, and/or normalization routines
Ability to work independently and with focus
Superb internet research skills
Experience working with large amounts of data
High computer literacy and spreadsheet skills
BA/BS degree in a relevant field, or equivalent related experience
Nice to have:
1–3 years of experience in music metadata, music technology, music retail, music industry or related media industry job
Experience with databases and other technological infrastructure
Fluency/familiarity with languages other than English
Familiarity with SQL
Following reports and worklists to ensure that charting items and new releases are in our database and the metadata is of highest quality and available for customers
Researching artists and albums to review, edit, and link music-related metadata elements according to established standards and practices
Learning and mastering internal Gracenote tools, technologies, data standards, and processes
Communicating issues, escalating problems as needed, and following through to resolution
Keeping abreast of new and popular music and the platforms people use to access and discover music
