What is the role?

Nielsen’s audience measurement capabilities include understanding what people are watching online on their computer or mobile device. We accomplish this by inviting people to be part of our Digital Panel, where they share their general browsing behavior with us via passive software metering. Our team is here to make sure those panelists have a great experience contributing to Nielsen’s measurement, and ensure that the data we collect from this panel sample is as representative as possible of overall audience behavior.

What will I do?

As a member of our Digital Panels methodology team, you will:

  • Learn and become an expert in how Nielsen’s Digital panels and panel data methodology are maintained – from the full panelist experience with our software to our internal steps for data sampling, weighting, and other bias correction methodology

  • Apply best practices for recruitment, panel maintenance, data collection, and survey methodology to Nielsen’s Digital panel processes

  • Develop and implement overall panel communications strategy and methods

  • Identify and implement methods and best practices to improve panelist/respondent cooperation and retention

  • Design survey questionnaires for custom research use cases

  • Contribute to design of analysis plans and utilize software (Python, R, etc.) to analyze & report research data to audiences of varying levels of experience

  • Identify gaps in current panel methodology and work with cross-functional teams to recommend and implement necessary fixes or future enhancements

  • Write/edit panelist-facing copy for various digital mediums such as email, web, social, app, creatives, etc.

  • Write literature reviews for business needs

  • Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) and general testing on panelist-facing websites and apps

  • Create and manage a project from beginning to end including research/analysis design, execution, and summarization of results

  • Contribute to cross-functional methodology discussions and collaborate regularly with stakeholders toward business goals

Is this for me?

This role requires a degree in survey methodology, research methods, social sciences, or related field, and 3-5 years of experience with the following:

  • Survey methodology and design, optimizing language and questionnaire flow/logic

  • Quantitative research design and data analysis experience (basic statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, regression, etc.)

  • Basic coding (Python, SQL, R, etc.) in order to manipulate and analyse data

  • Producing data-driven insights

  • Summarizing insights and presenting research findings

  • Project management including working collaboratively across multiple teams

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal

Nice to have:

  • Experience with data sampling, weighting, and outlier detection methodology

  • Intermediate to advanced coding skills for data analysis (Python, SQL, R. etc.)

  • Qualitative research design experience (focus groups, in-depth interviews, A/B testing)

  • Data visualization experience, preferably via BI tools such as Tableau
