The Oscars 2015 created more online buzz in India than the Filmfares 2015 across public domain blogs and social media platforms in the country – with a majority of posts and buzz from micro blogging site Twitter. The live telecast of the Oscars accompanied by social media campaigns by the broadcaster may have a role to play in it.
Atleast 120,000 posts on Oscars 2015 appeared online in India, including mentions about the awards, nominated directors, actors, actresses and pictures.
Over 40,000 posts referred to the ceremony from the live telecast that took place in the early hours of 23 February (IST 5:30am onwards). On the other hand, the recorded show aired post 8:30 pm on the same day received only 10 percent buzz.
