Middleweight Regions Are Hotspots for Growth in ASEAN

Mega-cities such as Jakarta, Manila and Bangkok come to mind when companies and investors think of ASEAN.

While these mega-cities (with population of more than five million) are important consumer markets, they do not dominate consumer demand. In fact, the fastest growth for baby diapers, laundry detergent, shampoo, facial moisturizer, chocolate, carbonated soft drink and beer is likely to happen in either small (500,000 to one million people) or large middleweight regions (one to five million population).
