John Tavolieri is Nielsen’s Chief Technology & Operations Officer, as well as the President of the FMCG and Retail commercial teams in the United States. The technology and operations teams he leads are responsible for end-to-end service delivery across both our Watch and Buy platforms inclusive of Product Development, Data Collection, Codification, Production and Deployment. In addition, this team is accountable for driving innovation through engineering, application development and world class data science.
In the U.S., John is also responsible for leading the teams working with fast-moving consumer goods manufacturer and retail business in the largest market for the company. He is responsible for helping clients measure outcomes and drive business improvements through a deeper understanding of what consumers buy.
Previously, John was Nielsen’s commercial leader in Western Europe. In this role, he led our commercial client engagement across sixteen countries with a focus on helping our clients drive improved business performance and growth.
He began his career with Nielsen Canada in 1992 in commercial client leadership roles before advancing to Vice President, Retailer Services for Nielsen Canada where he led all retailer relationships. John left Nielsen from 2003 to 2007 for a senior leadership role with Loblaw Companies Limited, Canada's largest food retailer, before returning in 2007 as Chief Marketing Officer Europe and Group Managing Director Benelux.
John graduated with a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo, Canada and holds dual citizenship in Canada and Italy.
