Nielsen TV: What’s Driving Consumer Holiday Shopping in 2016

The holiday season is well underway now that consumers are stuffed from their average of 1.7 Thanksgiving meals and stocked up from Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. With only a few weeks left in the 2016 holiday season, retailers and consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies still have opportunity to hone in on the demographic breakdown of consumers still out grabbing their last minute gifts. But reaching them means understanding how they are filling their shopping baskets (or e-carts).  

In the video below, Jordan Rost, Nielsen’s vice president of U.S. consumer insights, addresses a number of factors, including the early holiday shopping period that extends through the end of December, as well as Millennial purchasing patterns and smarter gifting options.
