Third Night of 2016 Democratic National Convention Draws 24.4 Million Viewers

An estimated 24.4 million people tuned in to watch the third night of the 2016 Democratic National Convention on Wednesday, July 27. Day three of the convention was carried live from Philadelphia, Penn., across eight commercially-supported networks. The night featured speeches by Vice President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama.

While coverage varied by network, all eight aired live coverage from approximately 10 p.m. ET to 11:45 p.m. ET.

In terms of the social nature of the convention, 2.6 million Tweets were sent by 549,000 people in the U.S. about the third night of the “Democratic National Convention,” according to Nielsen Social. Twitter activity spiked at 11:14 p.m. ET, when 23,600 Tweets were sent in one minute during Barack Obama’s speech.
