Given the connected lifestyles of youths in general, with constant online engagement the new norm, it’s not surprising that young people believe that self-driving vehicles are just over the horizon.
Awareness is especially high among those who already have their license or learning permit (79%). Awareness is 17 percentage points lower among those who are old enough to drive but are not yet doing so (62%).
What might surprise some is young consumers’ interest in owning a self-driving vehicle produced by a technology company. In fact, interest in a self-driving vehicle made and sold by a technology company is nearly as high as interest in such vehicles from traditional auto manufacturers.
