As NPR's product manager for social media and podcasts, Mathilde Piard manages the technology that powers NPR's social media presences, community engagement platforms like commenting, and podcast publishing and distribution. She also handles relationships with social vendors and partners, podcast platforms, and other aggregators of NPR content.
Previously, Mathilde was the social media manager at Cox Media Group. As the company's subject matter expert, she consulted with the publications and stations across the country on the best ways to engage their communities, was the product owner for social features and functionality integrated across all Cox Media Group websites, handled social media strategy and managed related partnerships.
She is also a seasoned speaker and coach and has traveled on behalf of the U.S. Department of State to Ethiopia to work with the African Union on their social media strategy, as well as to Senegal, Chad, and Fiji to train journalists, students, and civil society and business leaders.
Mathilde earned her M.S. in digital media at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York, and also holds a M.A. in international relations from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
