The season premiere of FOX’s “House” was the top-ranked primetime telecast on broadcast TV for Tuesday, September 16, 2008, drawing an average of almost 14.8 million viewers.
The second episode of FOX’s new series, “Fringe” claimed second place, with an average audience of almost 13.3 million, and CBS’s “NCIS” rounded out the top three, drawing an average of almost 9.7 million viewers.

Overall, FOX won the night with an average audience of just over 14 million viewers, while CBS took second place with approximately 7.9 million average viewers. NBC and ABC claimed third and fourth places — with roughly 7.2 million and 5.8 million average viewers, respectively. Univision followed in fifth place with an average audience of just over 5.1 million viewers.
