The Gauge™: Poland | September 2026

2 minute read | October 2026

The launch of the autumn programming schedules on traditional TV channels translated into a noticeable increase in total video viewership. Poles spent an average of 3 hours and 38 minutes per day in front of their TV screens – 7 minutes more than in August and exactly the same as in the corresponding period of 2025. The main driver of this trend proved to be traditional television, especially cable TV, which recorded the most visible growth in share. Among the most popular programs was the classic combo of the drama series “M jak Miłość” on TVP2 and “Fakty” on TVN, supplemented by strong sports highlights – the European Volleyball Championship matches broadcasted on Polsat and the UEFA Nations League football matches on TVP1.

After reaching a historic record in August, the online segment experienced a noticeable drop in September. Streaming’s share of total TV screen viewership fell from 11.0% to 10.4%, returning below the figures seen during the summer months. These declines directly affected the segment’s key players. Although YouTube maintained its lead, its share decreased from 2.8% in August to 2.3% in September. Netflix saw a similar trend, with its share dropping from 1.9% to 1.5%, clearly showing that with the onset of autumn, Polish viewers shifted their attention back toward linear broadcast schedules.

About The Gauge™

The Gauge™ was created to provide the media industry with a monthly analysis of television usage across key television delivery platforms. Nielsen published its first edition of The Gauge™ in the U.S. in May 2021.

About The Gauge™ Methodology

The data comes from Nielsen’s single-source panel consisting of 3,500 households and almost 9,700 panelists. The Gauge™: Poland is based on monthly AMR (Average Minute Rating) audience share data. The data is presented for people over 4 years old, broken down into cable, satellite, terrestrial television (both linear and shifted in time up to 7 days), and viewership from streaming (live streaming viewership of TV stations on OTT platforms is classified as streaming viewership). The “Other” category includes views of unrecognized content.

Nielsen Poland created this iteration of The Gauge™ using methodologies comparisons.
