– News.com.au retains top place in Nielsen digital news rankings
– ABC News Website moves up to second place
– Nielsen’s new Digital Content Ratings data found that the unique audience was consistently highest to news content on Fridays

Sydney, Australia โ€“ 23 August 2017:ย Nielsen Digital Ratings (Monthly) data for July 2017 saw more Australians consuming Current Events & Global News content with a unique audience of 13.4 million, up 1% when compared to June 2017.

News.com.au retained the top position with a unique audience of 5.9 million, an increase of 11% compared to the previous month. In second place was ABC News Websites (4.7 million, +3%) which switched places with nine.com.au (4.5 million, -4%).

Ranked fourth in Nielsenโ€™s digital data was smh.com.au (+12%), fifth was Daily Mail (0%), followed by The Guardian (+4%), Yahoo7 News Websites (+4%) and BBC (0%).

The Daily Telegraph moved into the top ten rankings in ninth place with a unique audience of 2.3 million (+5%), followed by Herald Sun in tenth place with a unique audience of 2.3 million (-2%).

For the top 10 news entities reported in Digital Ratings (Monthly), Nielsenโ€™s Digital Content Ratings found that the unique audience was consistently highest on Fridays for the month of July 2017.

In addition, Nielsenโ€™s Digital Content Ratings data revealed that news.com.au reported the highest average daily unique audience during the month of July 2017, with a peak audience of 1.3 million on July 21, 2017, followed by nine.com.au with a peak of 1.1 million on 25 July, 2017.
