NEW YORK – January 27, 2025 — Nielsen today announced the launch of the ARTEY Awards, an annual recognition and celebration of the streaming TV shows and movies that commanded the most viewership throughout the year. Multiple streaming platforms claimed 2024 ARTEY Awards, including Disney+, Max, Netflix, Peacock and Prime Video.
The 2024 awards report revealed that audiences spent over 12 trillion minutes streaming in 2024, which equates to about 8.4 billion days, or 23 million years’ worth. This is a 10% increase over 2023, which tallied 21 million years of streaming.
The 2024 ARTEY Awards were given based on viewing to streaming programs, measured and ranked by total viewing minutes accumulated throughout the year. Within streaming’s many different content types, this year’s report recognizes programs in the following streaming categories:
- Top New Streaming Original Series
- Top Overall Streaming Programs
- Most Binged Streaming Title
- ARTEY Legacy Award
In addition to providing a transparent, audience-driven benchmark for success, the awards also serve as an expansion to Nielsen’s annual Streaming Unwrapped report, and will continue to be released in a report-like format with more data and deeper insights than ever before.
Named after Nielsen’s founder, Arthur C. Nielsen, and an acronym for Audience Rated Television Entertainment of the Year, the ARTEY Awards are a testament to TV’s powerful ability to engage and resonate with broad and diverse audiences one binge-worthy moment at a time.
