Streaming Content Ratings (SCR) Data Shifts to Daily Delivery Cadence, Mirroring Linear TV Data Availability

Nielsen Also Accelerates Streaming Top 10 Reporting by Two Weeks

NEW YORKSeptember 16, 2026 — Nielsen today announced significant enhancements to its Streaming Content Ratings (SCR) product, which accelerates data deliveries from a once-weekly reporting cadence to a daily cadence. Clients can now access viewership insights faster, enabling more timely strategic decision-making in an increasingly competitive media landscape.

With this update, Nielsen has reduced SCR data delivery time by up to 80%. Clients now receive data, delivered each business day, for viewing that occurred two days prior. This acceleration aligns streaming insights with the reporting speed of linear TV, providing a much more unified measurement narrative.

“While Nielsen has made a number of material improvements to streaming measurement over the years that have broadened and deepened platform and program coverage, this may be the most significant enhancement to Streaming Content Ratings since its launch in 2017,” said Brian Fuhrer, Senior Vice President, Product Strategy and Thought Leadership. “As the speed of change across the media landscape increases, providing our clients with more immediate, up-to-date audience data helps them keep pace with the consumer.”

In addition to daily SCR data for clients, the product enhancements also allow Nielsen to accelerate the delivery of its weekly Streaming Top 10 reports, cutting the reporting delay in half. Nielsen expects to publish its first accelerated Top 10 on September 17, 2026, reporting the 08/31/26 – 09/06/26 measurement interval.

These latest enhancements build on Nielsen’s ongoing commitment to providing the marketplace with unrivaled, comprehensive audience insights across the media landscape. In recent years, Nielsen has made significant advancements to expand its audience measurement capabilities. Recent innovations include: National TV measurement enhancements featuring expanded co-viewing insights; broad marketplace adoption of Big Data + Panel measurement in 2025; first-party data integrations powering live streaming measurement; and a nationwide expansion of out-of-home measurement. Nielsen also continues to serve as the industry standard for streaming intelligence through essential industry benchmarks including The Gauge and the weekly Streaming Top 10 rankings.
