The Gauge™: Poland | August 2026

2 minute read | September 2026

August brought further stabilization in total TV viewing time. Poles spent an average of 3 hours and 31 minutes a day watching video content on TV glass—just 2 minutes less than in July and exactly the same as in August 2025. On traditional television, the end of the summer holidays was dominated by music, comedy shows, and sports excitement. Alongside TVN’s news flagship program Fakty and the Polish national team’s Nations League volleyball match on Polsat, the top-rated broadcasts included the Świętokrzyska Gala Kabaretowa (Polsat), the Top of the Top Sopot Festival 2026 (TVN), and the concert “Warszawiacy śpiewają (nie)zakazane piosenki” (TVP1).

However, the headline event of the month was streaming, reaching a historical record. After three months of holding steady at 10.7%, online content’s share of total TV screen viewership crossed the 11% threshold for the first time ever, hitting exactly 11.0% in August. YouTube solidified its lead by increasing its share from 2.5% in July to 2.8% in August, while Netflix bounced back from a July slump, moving up from 1.7% to 1.9%.

About The Gauge™

The Gauge™ was created to provide the media industry with a monthly analysis of television usage across key television delivery platforms. Nielsen published its first edition of The Gauge™ in the U.S. in May 2021.

About The Gauge™ Methodology

The data comes from Nielsen’s single-source panel consisting of 3,500 households and almost 9,700 panelists. The Gauge™: Poland is based on monthly AMR (Average Minute Rating) audience share data. The data is presented for people over 4 years old, broken down into cable, satellite, terrestrial television (both linear and shifted in time up to 7 days), and viewership from streaming (live streaming viewership of TV stations on OTT platforms is classified as streaming viewership). The “Other” category includes views of unrecognized content.

Nielsen Poland created this iteration of The Gauge™ using methodologies comparisons.
