House of Cards fans are Tweeting Underwood for U.S. president in 2016.

The highly anticipated Season 4 of House of Cards premiered on Netflix globally on Friday 4 March 2016. From 7:00PM Australian fans were quick to jump onto Twitter with #HouseofCards trending within the hour. Most mentioned characters were Frank and Claire Underwood, but there was also a large social following for their loyal staffers Doug Stamper and Edward Meechum.

Nearly 75% of all Tweets collected by Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings about over-the-top programming (Netflix, Stan, Presto) over the premiere weekend were about House of Cards. On Saturday, the unique audience activity represented 18% share of total unique audience for the day for programs in our 24/7 tracking selection. This trend continued over the weekend and Tweet volumes held steady position as number one most social program for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The most active times were 7:00PM Friday, 1:00PM Saturday and 10:00PM Sunday.
