At Nielsen, we believe that diversity in people and ideas allows us—and our clients—to be successful. We are proud to be awarded the No. 20 spot on the prestigious DiversityInc list of the 2020 Top 50 Companies for Diversity. Nielsen was also named No. 12 for Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and No. 6 for Board of Directors.

“In 2019, we put a lot of effort into diversifying our Board of Directors and re-imagining our ERGs for greater impact on the business and our employee experience,” said David Kenny, Chief Executive Officer & Chief Diversity Officer. “Being named a Top Company for both Boards and Employee Resource Groups helps signal that we are continuing to make the kind of progress of which we can all be proud.”

Winning this award does not mean our work is done. We will continue strengthening our accountability for diversity and inclusion for leaders at every level, evolving our employee resource groups (ERGs) and providing greater opportunities for dialogue with leaders on issues related to ethnicity, disabilities, mental health and other areas that can be barriers to personal and professional growth.

Added Sandra Sims-Williams, SVP, Diversity & Inclusion, “To our talent we want to be an employer of choice, to our community we want to be an ally, and to our clients we want to be a trusted and valued partner. Diversity and inclusion are key to unlocking the full potential of our people and our business.”

We also invest in diversity and inclusion initiatives that benefit our clients and communities. We regularly share research and insights about Asian American, Latinx and African American consumers through our Diverse Intelligence Series. We are also proud to support initiatives that increase representation of multicultural communities, such as promoting a fair and accurate 2020 U.S. Census through Project TrueCount.
